During her 28 years working in the criminal justice system, Laura Goodman has lived and worked according to her principles, which includes a keen sense of justice and fairness.
Goodman will focus on:
-
Ensuring public safety in Ramsey County through best practices in law enforcement.
-
Providing leadership and support to officers so they can live up to the noble calling of their profession.
-
Implementing community “professional” policing practices to build relationships with neighborhood groups, businesses, schools, faith communities, community organizations, new Americans, local units of government and other law enforcement agencies.
-
Working with diverse populations and implementing cultural competency standards within the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.
-
Developing guidelines to ensure that no one’s civil rights are violated while at the same time ensuring public safety, whether it’s fighting gang activity or policing large events.
-
Creating partnerships and designing new programs to work with at-risk families and providing effective intervention programs with our youth.
-
Ensuring that the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office provides the same high quality services to the most vulnerable among us as it does to the most privileged. Crimes against children, elderly, women, disabled and other vulnerable people will be pursued with all the energy and resources other significant crimes receive.
